Honda unveils magnificent sand sculpture at puri beach for road safety

| Puri, June 10, 2014: Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd (HMSI), the fastest growing 2-wheeler company in India, celebrated its association with the cause of 'road safety' by unveiling the 'Safety Sand Art by Honda,' a unique sculpture, created by the Padma Shree awardee Sudarsan Pattanaik at the Puri beach, today. |
| The magnificent sculpture made entirely of sand represents Honda's commitment to road safety and showcases different aspects of safe riding. The amazing level of artistry with intricate handwork on creating elements like helmets attracted hundreds of Honda customers, national and international spellbound throughout the day. |
| After more than a day of preparation, the final masterpiece was unveiled by the chief guest Mr Dhiren Kumar Pattanaik (IAS, Collector – Puri) in the presence of Mr. Yadvinder S. Guleria (Vice-President, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt Ltd.) and Mr. Takanori Maruyama (Director, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt Ltd) who reiterated HMSI's mission to inculcate 'safe riding as an everyday habit'. |
| In India, Honda has been advocating the concept of safe riding since 13 years. At the two existing Safety Traffic Parks in Delhi and Jaipur, Honda has empowered over 53,000 riders to experience the joy of safe independent riding. Honda plans to further extend traffic parks to other cities across the nation and this sculpture comes at the eve of a major announcement in road safety promotion. |
| About Sudarshan Pattnaik: |
| Sudarsan Pattnaik a World famous Indian sand artist hailing from Orissa. He started sculpting images on sand since the age of seven and since then has designed hundreds of sand sculpture. Sudarsan Patnaik has time and again wowed the world with his meticulous and beautiful sand sculptures on social issues like environmental crisis, famous festivals, national integrity and religious tolerance. Sudarsan has represented India in 50 international Sand Sculpture championship and festivals all around the world and Won 27 (Twenty seven) championship prizes for the country. He was awarded the Padma Shri by Government of India in 2014. |
