HMSI takes ‘Fun’ to the next level with Honda Racing Training

Chennai, August 31, 2012: Riding on the success of its inaugural ‘Honda Racing Training’ in 2011, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI), the 100% owned 2-wheeler subsidiary of Honda Motor Company, Japan conducted its 1st session of ‘Honda Racing Training’ from August 30-31, 2012 at the Chennai Motor Race Track.
 

Through the unique Honda Racing Training platform, Honda aims to nurture biking enthusiasts in India to reach an all new level of racing expertise. As a brand synonymous with racing globally, Honda especially organized intensive practical and theoretical training by Honda’s star Moto GP trainers from Japan - Mr. Noboru Ueda and Mr. Hiroyuki Kikuchi with support of Indian riding trainers. The riding training is aimed to develop the novice category riders.

Honda Racing School - Overview
A total of 24 riders, starting as young as 18 years participated in Honda’s unique Racing School initiative. To provide a learning experience of global standards, Honda’s Moto GP trainers, Mr. Noboru Ueda and Mr. Hiroyuki Kikuchi used a judicious mix of basic theory and practical riding lessons. Indian biking enthusiasts were trained in detail about the correct racing posture, right racing line, braking and cornering.

This unique initiative of Honda was much appreciated by Indian biking enthusiasts who felt a remarkable difference in their lap times as well as riding technique.

Backed by the overwhelming response to this activity, Honda plans to schedule the Second round of Honda Racing Training in October 2012 at an advanced level. Through this advance level of training, Honda is aiming to identify the rider for upcoming Dream Cup which is scheduled for 6 rounds in next year.

Profile of Racing trainers
Mr. Noboru Ueda is a former Grand Prix motorcycle racer. He started his illustrious career with a win in his inaugural race at the 1991 Japanese Grand Prix. This was soon followed by second position in the 125cc World Championship. In 1997, Mr. Noboru Ueda finished second only to Valentino Rossi. In his 11 years of racing career spanning over 160 Grand Prix Championships, he has won 13 races and secured a podium position in 39 additional races.

Renowned World GP rider, Mr. Hiroyuki Kikuchi started his racing innings in 1993. Driven by passion for speed and technique, he is 3 times winner of 125cc race in the All Japan Road Race Championship and has to his name another 9 races & 30 podiums finishes in his racing career of 18 years till now.
