Round 2 of Honda One Make Race unleashes racing spirit once again!

Chennai, August 12, 2012: For the 5th consecutive year, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI), the only Honda in India successfully conducted the Round 2 of ‘MMSC - FMSCI National Motorcycle Racing Championship 2012’ held at Coimbatore Motor Race Track, from 10th – 12th August, 2012.
 

Popularly known as the ‘Honda One Make Race,’ the activity provides ‘Fun Riding Experience’ to all participants as well as spectators in a safe and controlled environment.

New excitement across all categories
In its refreshed format, the ‘Honda One Make Race’ now tests the riding capabilities of participants in three broad categories of races- Novice, 2 Open categories and the New Team category.

Bringing intense excitement and adrenaline to the race, the CBR 250R category is reached new popularity levels as a Team Championship. In the new format, 20 CBR 250R performance bikes have been leased to teams registered at FMSCI. Excluding the engine and chassis of CBR 250R, any other modifications could be made to enhance performance of vehicle. Honda further supported the participating teams with Original Spare parts worth Rs. 10,000 and set of tyres replacement per round.

In Round 2, riders above 23 years got a chance to directly participate in the 2 Open category Championships. A total of 13 participants qualified in the 150cc ‘CBR 150R’ Championship while the 125cc ‘CBF Stunner’ Championship race witnessed 25 participants per round. Providing a unique racing platform to Novice riders less than 23 years was Honda’s popular 110cc mass model CB Twister.

Over and above ‘Honda One Make Race 2012’, Honda also provided CBR 150R with original spares support on lease for Group B, Group C and Group D of ‘National Motorcycle Racing Championship’.

Honda One Make Race, Round 2 overview
Over 120 riders participated in Round 2 of Honda One Make Race. A maximum of 60 riders can compete for CB Twister cup. A total of 13 participants qualified in the 150cc ‘CBR 150R’ Championship while the 125cc ‘CBF Stunner’ Championship race witnessed 25 participants per round. The Team race for CBR 250R Championship witnessed competition between 20 expert riders. Participants were judged in their respective categories, of which Top 3 racers were awarded attractive cash prizes (1st – Rs. 7500, 2nd – Rs. 5000, 3rd – Rs. 2500).

Honda’s initiatives for ‘Safety Promotion’
Safety is an issue very close to Honda’s heart. Till date, Honda has engaged over 2,600 biking enthusiasts, journalists and spectators through various Fun, Safety riding and Gymkhana activities. Scheduled to be held during Round 1 of Honda One Make Race, 2011 as well, these activities give visitors a unique opportunity to get tips on safe riding from Safety Riding Instructors. Honda also spreads its belief that fun-biking can also be safe.

Participants and spectators alike, enjoyed slow riding (an activity that aims at enhancing bike balance), and the highly popular Gymkhana activities (a ‘fun’ riding activity for enhancing rider maneuverability & road-sense) at Round 1 of Honda One Make Race, 2012. Even kids can learn safety riding with CRF-50 model which is specially designed to provide experience and education on two-wheeler & road safety. 
 
Aiding first time riders with overall balance, Honda will set up its riding trainers which simulate various traffic, road and weather conditions so that riders can develop a healthy road sense. Currently, all 521 Honda dealerships are equipped with unique riding trainers.

Participation in Asia Dream Cup
To promote riders and develop riding skills Honda Motor Company, Japan has initiated the Asia Dream Cup Motorcycle Racing Championship. Riders will compete for top spot on CBR250R. In this Championship, every Honda Company within Asia is sponsoring 2 riders each to participate in Dream Cup. Inline with the same, HMSI is also sponsoring 2 riders (Mr. Gautam Mayilvaganan & Mr. Deepak Papineni) with helper to participate in the championship. Total 6 rounds of are to be conducted in Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Taiwan, Japan and Qatar.
