A Proactive step intertwining Skill Development and Employment in the Hospitality Sector

Aizawl, 18th September 2024: Taking a giant stride in its commitment to community support by empowering the youth of the society, Honda India Foundation (HIF) along with the Mizoram Youth Commission (MYC) and Visan Foundation launched “Project Buniyaad - Aathmanirbharta Ka Aadhar” that aims at providing employment to the unemployed youth from the marginal sections of the society.

The project plans to establish four distinct foundations of collaboration with Honda India Foundation being the funding partner, State Government being the Infrastructure and Mobilization Support partner, Visan Foundation being the Training partner and all the leading hotels and hospitals being the Placement partner. It aims to provide 100% job placement to the youth from the North-eastern states and Jammu and Kashmir in the hospitality sector.

The project was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Mizoram, Shri Pu Lalduhoma, in the august presence of Shri Satyaprakash Patil (Operating Officer, Honda India Foundation) along with other members from Government of Mizoram and Honda India Foundation.

Speaking at the event, the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Pu Lalduhoma, highlighted the significance of the initiative, stating, “With the support of the Honda India Foundation and its implementing agency, the Visan Foundation, we are marking yet another milestone in our journey of developing and empowering our young people. This partnership is not just a testament to our collective determination to uplift the youth, but also a symbol of our commitment to equipping them with skills that will pave the way for a successful future. I express my heartfelt thanks to the Honda India Foundation for this CSR. It is a well-established program that provides a crucial pathway for our young people to achieve their dreams, gain skills, and become financially independent"

Project Buniyaad was first launched in February 2024 with the vision of uplifting and empowering unemployed youth from marginalized communities by providing them with the necessary skills for employment in the hospitality sector. Since its inception, the project has successfully trained and placed over 500 youth in national priority regions, contributing to the development of a skilled workforce that supports both regional and national economic growth. The expansion of this project to Mizoram further strengthens Honda India Foundation's commitment to promoting self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.

Under this program, unemployed youth will receive two months training from Visan Foundation in Hospitality Management post which a certification will be provided from Tourism & Hospitality Skill Counsil.

The project aims to train 1000 plus youth in the North-Eastern states and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It aims to provide opportunities for marginalized youth to build dignified careers in Hospitality Management.
