Honda inaugurates 2 new Skill Enhancement Centres in Gujarat

With new Vadodara & Ankleshwar centres, Honda now has the highest industry oriented skill centres in Gujarat

Vadodara, August 26, 2019: Committed to Skill India Mission, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. today inaugurated two new Skill Enhancement Centres in Gujarat in collaboration with Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI). The new centres operational from today will empower local youth with job-oriented technical skill training in cities of Vadodara and Ankleshwar.

Noteworthy that Gujarat now leads with the highest spread of 5 Honda Skill Enhancement Centres across India including Vadodara, Ankleshwar, Rajkot, Gandhinagar & Sarkhej.

The 2 new Honda Skill Enhancement Centres were inaugurated by Mr. Shivprakash Hiremath, Regional Head, Customer Service - West Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt Ltd in the august presence of the principles of respective ITIs.

Honda’s Skill Enhancement Centres at Government ITI of Vadodara (Baroda Dairy Road, Sharad Nagar, Tarsali) and Ankleshwar (Station Road) are equipped with two-wheelers and service infrastructure. The centres equipped with fully functional workshops will give practical training on technical aspects of two-wheelers maintenance and repair to students. On completion of one-year training program, Honda will also support with recruitment opportunities to successful candidates at Honda manufacturing plants and dealerships.

Speaking on the initiative, Mr Pradeep Pandey, Senior Vice President - Customer Service, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “Fulfilling its corporate social responsibility, Honda 2Wheelers India proactively supports Skill India Mission to empower Indian youth. The 2Wheeler industry is facing its biggest shift to new BS-VI emission norms and the demand for skilled technical manpower will go up in near future. Keeping this as a priority, Honda is establishing Skill Enhancement Centres in key identified states across India. The 2 new centres in Vadodara and Ankleshwar in addition to our existing 3 centres in Gujarat is testimony to our commitment to upskill local youth and enhance their employability.”

Honda’s CSR commitment towards Skill India Mission

Fulfilling its corporate social responsibility, Honda has taken several initiatives in the direction of Skill Development. In order to bridge the gap between requirement and availability of trained manpower in the automotive sector, Honda is setting up Skill Enhancement Centres across India. Currently, Honda operates 24 skill enhancement centres across 13 states in India. These include Gujarat (Rajkot, Gandhinagar, Sarkhej, Ankleshwar & Vadodara ), Haryana (Rohtak & Gurugram), Delhi-NCR (Jaffarpur & Nandnagri), Madhya Pradesh (Bhopal), Tamil Nadu (Chennai, Madurai and Sivagangai), Uttar Pradesh (Meerut), West Bengal (Kolkata), Telangana (Hyderabad), Chhattisgarh (Bhilai), Maharashtra (Pune, Nasik, Dhule & Palgadh), Andhra Pradesh (Vizag), Assam (Guwahati) and Kerala (Kozhikode) benefiting nearly 1900 students so far.
