New Delhi, November 27, 2013: Setting a new landmark in promotion of road safety as a responsible corporate, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) – the only 2Wheeler Company of Honda in India, in association with Delhi Traffic Police participated in the 33rd India International Trade Fair 2013 held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

As a socially responsible 2Wheeler company, Honda is committed to make Safe Riding an everyday habit of 2Wheeler riders through ‘Lifetime Safety Education’.  The Company organized various road safety activities for visitors of all age groups at the pavilion. In fact, Honda’s safety instructors successfully trained over 3200 adults and 2000 kids on safety riding at IITF itself.

For adult visitors at the India International Trade Fair, Honda provided riding posture demo on display vehicles and conducted the very popular slow riding contest.

For young kids under 5-6 years age, Honda took the “fun way” on educating on safety riding through primary activities like role plays, interactive games etc. The Company distributed prizes to children who participated in special painting competition and dart games. Honda imparted training to kids on Honda CRF 50 model, especially imported from Japan to help young minds understand the importance of safety riding. To give a practical road experience to kids under the age group of 9-12 years HMSI specially designed a protected road environment at the pavilion.

Riding trainer (also present at every Honda Exclusive Authorised Dealership across India) helped aid riders above 16 years of age to experience over 100 possible dangers on the road. This virtual experience increases the ability to predict & react to traffic hazards by creating awareness and knowledge about potential risks & solutions.

Globally, road safety promotion has been one of Honda’s top priorities worldwide since 1970. Under the People Come First philosophy, Honda follows Safety as an integral part of all its business activities.

Excerpts from the company:

Vice president- Sales & Marketing, Mr. Yadvinder S. Guleria said, “For over a decade, Honda in India has promoted the joy of riding, while inculcating a sense of road safety and good riding habits amongst road users. We have been participating at India International Trade Fair for the last 7 years as it is an apt platform for us to reach out to the maximum number of people to spread Road-safety awareness. We have received an overwhelming response this year as well and successfully trained over 3200 adults and 2000 kids on importance of safety riding this year. This initiative is in line with our commitment to road safety and fits with our approach to ‘Catch them young’ by educating children.”
